Breast Cancer Information & Studies

What Surgery would you choose if you were diagnosed with breast cancer?Which surgery would you choose

Recruiting - Women and men who have never been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Purpose: All breast cancer patients have many decisions to make as they decide which breast cancer surgery, and other treatments, are right for them. These decisions may be influenced by input from family, friends, and doctors – but what is important to them might not be what matters most to the patients themselves. The purpose of this study is to better understand which factors women and men find most important as they consider different surgical treatment options. The researchers want to enroll female breast cancer patients who chose to have a single or double mastectomy as well as women and men who have not had a breast cancer diagnosis. The researchers will use what they learn to improve how health care providers approach shared decision-making with their breast cancer patients.

Involves - One-time online questionnaire Sign Up for this Study

Help researchers learn about the thoughts, experiences and feeling upon completing treatmentArmy of Women feeling after treatment

Recruiting - Women and men who completed treatment for their Stage 0 - 3 breast cancer (chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery) within the past two years.

Purpose: to learn about the thoughts, experiences, and feelings that women and men have after completing breast cancer treatment. The findings from this survey may help researchers understand why some breast cancer survivors are more likely to participate in, and benefit from, survivorship self-care than others.

Involves - Online survey (20-minutes) Sign Up for this Survey

WE ARE MORE THAN PINK SURVIVORS.png

Why do we RACE and Fundraise for breast cancer cures?

  • Because 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
  • Because every 19 seconds, somewhere in the world, a case of breast cancer is diagnosed in a woman.
  • Because every 60 seconds, somewhere in the world, someone dies from breast cancer; every 13 minutes, one woman in the U.S. will lose her life to breast cancer.
  • Because in Tidewater1716 women and men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
  • Because it’s time to go beyond breast cancer awareness. It’s time to take action!

Breast Care Helpline Treatment Assistance Program

Susan G. Komen® partners with CancerCare® to offer the Komen Treatment Assistance Program which bridges the gap for underserved individuals who are actively undergoing breast cancer treatment.

With this program, we aim to help those who are facing financial challenges by providing the following to low-income, underinsured or uninsured women across the country: an assessment by an oncology social worker, limited financial assistance, breast cancer education, psychosocial support and information about local resources.

Funding helps women of any age who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, at any stage of the disease. Financial assistance is granted to women who meet pre-determined eligibility criteria. To learn more about this program and other helpful resources, call the Komen Breast Care Helpline at 1-877 GO KOMEN (1-877-465-6636) or email at helpline@komen.org.
