Your gift could provide a one month supply of Tamoxifen, a drug used to treat breast cancers that rely on estrogen for growth, to a patient in need. Every 60 seconds, somewhere in the world, someone dies from breast cancer. Your gift will help save lives! Your gift could provide a screening mammogram to an uninsured or underinsured person in need. Your gift could provide a breast prosthesis for an uninsured or underinsured woman in need. Your gift will help us reach our bold goal to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. within the next decade!

What am I doing?
I'm participating in the Komen Tidewater Race for the Cure to make a difference in the fight to end breast cancer.  I Race in memory of my sister, Laura. Who will you Race for? Join me on October 14th at the Virginia Beach oceanfront. You can also make a tax deductible donation today. Each person reminded that early detection saves lives can mean another life saved.  Each donation means help toward finding the cures and helping to bring education and screening to the 22 cities and counties in the Komen Tidewater service area.

You may donate online with your credit card by clicking the "Donate" button at the top of this page. Your support helps us get another step closer to a world without breast cancer.

Your breast health…
The greatest risk factors for breast cancer are being female and growing older. Breast cancer knows no boundary and can affect women from their 20's to 90's, strikes women at all socio-economic status and in all geographic locations. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. That's one in eight within your family, friends and social groups, company, school, church and organization!  Men are also at risk for developing breast cancer and should be aware of suspicious lumps.

The key to survival is early detection. Three simple steps for early detection are regular mammograms, clinical exams and breast self-exams. And, remember, breast cancer affects more than just the patient; friends and family need support too.

What does Komen do?

For more than 35 years, Komen for the Cure has played a critical role in every major advance in the fight against breast cancer transforming how the world talks about and treats this disease, and helping to turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors.

Over the next 25 years, an estimated 25 million women around the world will be diagnosed with breast cancer if we don't find a cure.  Komen will not stop until we discover and deliver the cures. That's our promise.

We Will Find the Cure!  Together We Can Make A Difference!
