What am I doing?
I'm volunteering to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure in Tidewater/Southeast Virginia because I want to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making a tax deductible donation today. In addition to celebrating my mom, Sharlene, my Aunt Audrey, my cousin Anne and me as survivors, our efforts raise awareness of the importance of early detection. Seventy-five percent of the funds raised by Barb's Bosom Brigade stay in the Tidewater area to provide breast health services to underserved women. The remaining 25% goes to research to find the cures for this diverse disease.
What am I asking of you?
Please donate! Any amount you donate is most appreciated, but if you would like a target, a mammogram is approximately $125. You may donate online with your credit card by clicking the 'Donate to Barbara' button on the right side of this page. Your support helps us get another step closer to a world without breast cancer.
You may also join my team by clicking on 'Join Barbara's Team' on the right side of this page! If you will be in the area for the event, please register for Barb's Bosom Brigade as a member of the team. If you are out of the area (or won't be available on Race Day), you can still support the cause as a Sleep In for the Cure registrant. We will send you a pillow case in thanks for your Sleep In donation.
Pass this request to your family and friends, even if it is to ask for moral support for Barb's Bosom Brigade.
Why is this important?
Breast cancer knows no boundaries be it age, gender, socio-economic status or geographic location. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. That is one in eight within your company, school and organization!
The key to survival is early detection. Three simple steps for early detection are regular mammograms, clinical exams and breast self exams. It is important to make healthy lifestyle choices. And, remember, breast cancer affects more than just the patient; friends and family need support too. Over the next 25 years, an estimated 25 million women around the world will be diagnosed with breast cancer if we don?t find a cure. Komen will not stop until a cure is found and delivered. That's our promise.
